DSD Presents: Still a Rockstar

I was sorting through my stuff and I realized Still D.R.E and Rockstar sounded kind of alike and figured I should do something about it.

...I did something about it.

Still a Rockstar

Dr. Dre Ft. Snoop Dogg (Still D.R.E) Vs. N*E*R*D (Rockstar)

DSDelivery: Lupe Fiasco's Follow the Leader Mixtape

Let's make one thing clear. I am on Lupe Fiasco's nuts like HIV on a Gary prostitute. (No homo) This mixtape is hot FIRE. If you haven't listened to The Cool yet, don't even worry about it. Most of it is on here.

I never thought Lupe was capable of delivering even a semi-club banger, but I was wrong. He keeps his rhyming style, but switches the instrumental up and it works. I'd recommend a track to you, but they're all sick, so I'll just give you the whole thing.

We On - Gemstones ft. Lupe Fiasco
This should get its own post because it's actually a Gemstones song.(It's on both his mixtape an Lupe's) Get his mixtape, too. Testimony of Gemstones. It's just as raw as Lupe's.

Lupe Fiasco: Follow the Leader

Cheers, niggas.

DSD Presents: I Love to Kick Push and Just Forget What I Would Do

I did some mashups a while back and thought I'd put them up now that I have a medium to do so. I like the What Would I Do one better. It sounds like an actual song to me. But the Kick Push one, I feel it has too many mistakes. Maybe I only notice them because I made it, but whatever. Here you go. If you click the link, you can listen to the song without downloading it, but if you do, can you comment and let me know what you think?

I Love Kick Push - Lupe vs. Jeezy

Just Forget What I Would Do - Nas vs. Nujabes

DSDelivery: Shiina Ringo - Watashi to Houden

I went through a Japanese music phase when I was in middleschool and when I was a freshman. I promptly stopped that phase because of two reasons. A little bit because it was kind of embarrassing. There's a stigma attached to liking that sort of stuff and it's with good reason. But the major reason was that nobody else listened to it. What was the point of listening to music if you couldn't discuss your favorite artists with any of your friends. Well, my approach now is basically "fuck other people, they want to be me". As deluded as that might be, it lead me to make this post.

I'm like a freaking psychic because I bet you I know what you're thinking right now - "What the fuck is he thinking giving me an album in a language that I don't understand."
Fortunately for you, however, I can answer this question. Because it's still good music. I mean honestly, do you like Lupe Fiasco, John Mayer, Tim McGraw, Cascada, Chris Brown, or Miley Cyrus? Do you like them because they're speaking English or do you like them because their music sounds good?
(If you didn't realize that that was a rhetorical question, don't bother yourself with downloading the album. Don't worry about why... you probably wouldn't get it if I told you.)

Anyways, Shiina Ringo (In Japan, last name comes first)is an incredible artist. She plays guitar, piano, and about two billion and a half other instruments and she can sing really well. All in all, she is, in my opinion, a creative genius that deserves to be exposed to international audiences. That's where I come in. I'll hook you all up with a sample before you go ahead and download the whole album. And before you ask, I don't really know how to explain her genre... she's just Shiina Ringo.

La Salle De Bain - Shiina Ringo

Aisaika no Choushoku

Even if you didn't like what you heard, those two songs aren't exactly representative of what she does. Her sound varies quite a bit from song to song, so you might as well just download the album, give it a shot, and delete it if you don't like it.

(Edit: Disc 1 is a lot more "Rock" sounding and disc 2 is the one that's more diverse and whatnot.)

I've posted this on Facebook, but facebook pictures have TERRIBLE image quality. It compresses the picture and little jpeg artifacts (those little colored noisy dots) appear on an otherwise great quality picture. That used to be a problem when it came to getting my stuff shown, but now that I have this blog, I can let you guys see the full quality pictures I put up. And since I have all this free space, I'll explain what I did and why I did it. Here's the original picture

The model for this picture was already great looking, but there were a few personal touches I wanted to make. I did some major lip reconstruction and then did some subtle cosmetic structural edits on the jawline and nose. Then I did some veeery subtle darkening of her freckles. Then I looked back and thought about how well the eyes and flower stood out in the original picture and decided to make them the focus by giving them my signature hot pink glow. Because the normal procedure for eyes didn't quite work for this picture, I had to manually paint and recolor her eyes and sort of make them shiny and realistic for being you know.... fake painted on eyes.

After I finished, I put everything together and decided the blue shirt kind of clashed with everything. Since it was the only blue thing in the picture, it was pretty easy to just do a Hue/Saturation edit and turn it white. Then I did some top secret layer effects with my special little model blur technique.

I didn't put my name on this one so that I wouldn't clutter up the picture and out of respect for the amazing stock artist Noxiousfreak

Thanks for checking out the picture and thanks to the stock artist.

DSDare

I like to call this section DSDare. I'm daring you to check these things out. I mean, if you're visiting this site, you probably value my opinion. But anyways, yeah. If you're bored, curious, or in love with everything I say and or do, you might want to check these things out. And if you really really love me, you can show me that you do by leaving a comment on this post. Thanks and enjoy.
(None of this stuff is necessarily new, but you may not have heard of them.)

Watch: Samurai Champloo: Entire Series

Before you start whining about how anime is for nerds, please check yourself. The DSD experience is about giving things you don't normally do a try. My advice to you is that nobody knows what you do in your free time and they generally couldn't give a fuck less about it if the do find out. So please take your insecurity elsewhere.

Anyways, this is a mish-mash of hip-hop and Samurai Culture with a crazy soundtrack by this cat named Nujabes and some other people. It's animated really well and the plots are pretty deep, give the first episode a watch at the link I gave you and just comment here if you like it or didn't like it.

Yes, I'm asking you to actually read. Crazy? I know, right? It's okay though, champ. I'm sure you can do it.

The book is about this everyday guy named Stephen Jones that gets a job at a company. There's a pretty big plot twist pretty early on, so I can't say much about the plot, but I can tell you that it's full of sarcastic humor and lovable characters. I had a great time reading this book and hope you will, too. (As if you're going to read a fucking book, lmfao)

Listen: I'm at work, so I can't really play music through the computer. But since I'm really into music and mixtape making and stuff, the whole site will be more or less a "Look At" and "Listen" section.

Smoke: Strawberry/Watermelon Flavored Hoookah

I won't tell you to do any real drugs. And I also won't (directly) tell you to enrich your life in a positive manner through healthy herbs (like marijuana) because it is illegal(Try it anyways, you won't regret it.). But I will, however, advise you on flavors of Hookah to try.

If they mix hookah at your nearby place, like they should, ask them to mix strawberry and watermelon. This is quite the mix. It's a little weak, I'll have to say that, but it's something you'd want to chill with your friends to. The best way I could describe how it tastes would be

Me and my buddy from school had this for a little more than an hour and I was drinking something carbonated the whole time. And I shit you not, I farted in the car and enjoyed the smell.

DSDeviance: Barack Obama Scandal

Hey, everyone. I realize that "everyone" is all of one or two people, but that's completely and totally good enough. As long as someone sees what I'm doing, my goal is being somewhat accomplished.

Anyways, I'd like to establish that my "DSDeviance" posts will be rants. Angry rants, happy rants, sad rants, whatever. They'll get my thoughts out of my head and provoke thoughts in yours. Today I think I'll discuss Barack Obama on the cover of the New Yorker.

It might be offensive at first glance, but the idea didn't have any malicious intent. In fact, they're on Obama's side. The point of that cover was to make fun of the ridiculous accusations people have been making about him through a satirical political cartoon. That's what the New Yorker does. It's like complaining that there are titties on a Playboy cover.

So.... what's the problem? CN motherfucking N and others sensationalizing this situation. We now have people saying that they won't vote for Obama because he's a "closet Muslim". Is this because of the New Yorker? No. Because A.) People that wouldn't vote for someone based solely upon the fact that they are a Muslim do not read the New Yorker. B.) People that wouldn't vote for someone based solely upon the fact that they are a Muslim don't see the cover of magazines because they don't read much in general and C.) People that did, by chance, see the cover of the New Yorker would likely have simply glossed over it as one of those "weird" magazine covers.

My problem is that media exposure has turned something that the average easily mislead idiot would never have even heard of into something that could possibly hurt his chances, if even just a little. It's honestly not that big of a deal.

But on the other hand, the New Yorker people should have known better. I'm not against the cover, I'm against the timing. Just like how I agree with most of the stuff Reverend Wright says, but I think he was a damn fool for saying them when he did, you feel me?

Discuss this in the comment box below, but before that you should enjoy this picture from the folks at 4chan.
